Paris is today one of the world's leading business and cultural centres, and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts.

Paris was ranked among the three most important and influential cities in the world, among the first three "European cities of the future" – according to research published by the Financial Times and among the top ten most liveable cities in the world according to the British review Monocle.

Paris also ranked among the ten greenest European cities in 2010.

Paris hosts the headquarters of many international organizations such as UNESCO, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the informal Paris Club.

Las Vegas: Centennial 1905-2005

Why are some cities in the world classified as THE PLACE TO BE?

http://getting-married-in-lasvegas.com/Las-Vegas-Wedding.jpg-accessed

Las Vegas is just over 100 years old like Canberra but Las Vegas is seen as a PLACE TO BE. WHY?

It is widely known as having relaxed laws on the processing of marriage, legal no shame gambling habits, elaborate hotels, a place of luxury, wealth...

It is the combination of these factors which makes Las Vegas as a PLACE TO BE - socially and economically.

People all over the world see Vegas as a place for entertainment, business, and 'family' destination - can Canberra take some pointers from this city?

Below is a link to the official Las Vegas city website showing a history timeline etc:
